Éric Giraudet de Boudemange presents FEE FI FO FUM, a new solo exhibition at La Chapelle des Calvairiennes, Mayenne. Its title echoes the giant's cry from Jack and the Beanstalk — "Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman" — the growl of a colossus sensing a smaller, trespassing life within his domain. Here, the fairy tale's beanstalk, that impossible plant climbing overnight from a single magic seed into the clouds, becomes a quiet metaphor for growth itself: for crops pushed to extraordinary scale, for bodies and lineages stretching upward. Within the chapel's nave, new monumental sculptures entwine fertility, health, and magic, letting global anxieties seep into uncanny, intimate tales. Birth is present through placenta casts, molded from the artist's own daughter and a stream of mutant spermatozoa; growth swells into a giant denim cornfield. Throughout, the artist and his children reappear as fossil-fuel mining gnomes and energy fairies, small mythic figures tending to the machinery of the world.

In Werewolf Diplomacy, Eric Giraudet de Boudemange explores how the return of the wolf to the Netherlands has become a diplomatic issue. Inspired by philosopher Baptiste Morizot and the tale of Saint Francis of Assisi and the Wolf of Gubbio, he introduces the character “Francis the Werewolf”: a mediator moving between human and animal worlds. Filmed at Landgoed Welna (in the heart of the Veluwe forest), where a wolf population is present, the work shows how the wolf, as an invisible actor, brings together a tangle of voices — farmers, hunters, forest rangers, ecologists, shamans. The film makes tangible how the wolf symbolizes deeper societal and existential conflicts, and how imagination can contribute to possible forms of coexistence. -- Marlise van der Jacht
